These Commentaries, created by the AIC membership and approved by the Board of Directors, are intended to amplify the Guidelines for Practice so that they serve the needs of the different areas of specialization in the profession and accommodate growth and change in the field.
They are designed to define current accepted practice for the conservation profession and to provide recommendations that will assist conservation professionals in pursuit of ethical practice. The Commentaries also serve as an educational tool and as an informational resource for improving professional practice.
While the Commentaries strive to acknowledge variations in requirements for the different areas of specialization, the level of detail may not fulfill the need for guidance in all cases. AIC specialty groups are therefore encouraged to provide additional guidance to practitioners in their specialty.
