Biographical Information:

Seth Irwin is a book, paper, and photo conservator in his own private practice, Irwin Paper Conservation, operating since 2010. Seth holds a Masters in Art Conservation from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Seth was the first full time Paper Conservator for the University of Hawaii Library, a position held until mid-2016, when he moved the Boston area to devote all his time to his private practice. Seth has worked closely with many U.S. institutions over the years on a wide diversity of projects, often bringing conservation services to far away places. In 2011 and 2012, he worked on a fourteen-month project with eleven museums throughout the State of Alaska. At the beginning of 2017, he returned to Juneau to conserve the Treaty of Cession documents for an exhibit commemorating the Alaska State Museum’s Sesquicentennial. Seth is an AIC Professional Associate, currently serving on the Nominating Committee for Conservators in Private Practice, and was a board member for the Western Association for Art Conservation from 2015 to 2017. He has presented papers and published in BPG Annual, as well as, the International Preservation News and E-Conservation Magazine.
