Adam Allen
Meetings Associate
|
Adam joined the AIC team in July of 2010 to as a Meetings Associate. He assists Ruth Seyler in all meetings logistics for the AIC Annual Meeting, as well as other AIC meetings and events. He is also involved in AIC’s social media components, as well as advertising sales. Prior to AIC, Adam was an Event Manager at TerraCom, a small event planning firm in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC that focused on government conferences. Originally from Gary, Indiana, Adam has been in DC since the Fall of 2004, when he began at Howard University. He graduated from Howard University in the Spring of 2008 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree concentrated in Marketing.

Kenneth Beam
Finance Director*
|
Ken Beam was hired as the finance director in October, 2007. His position is part-time; his normal work week is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As the Finance Director, is duties include accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, human resources, and investments. His background a 30 year career in association management as he has held various leadership positions including Executive Director. Prior to his experience in the Washington, DC association community, he served as Administrator for the Virginia Museum of Art in Richmond, VA and Deputy Director for the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. He holds a BS in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Georgia State University.

Steven Charles
Membership Assistant
|
Steven joined AIC in January 2011 as its Membership Assistant. He handles general membership-related duties, membership renewals, email distribution lists, job and internship listings, advertising, and helps the public navigate the AIC website’s Find A Conservator search engine. Steven graduated from American University in 2006 with a BA in French Language and European Area Studies, and worked at The Phillips Collection for three years before coming to AIC. He loves living in Washington, DC for its abundance of museums and other cultural opportunities, and someday in the distant future would love to own and operate a business that sells and promotes work by local artists.
In his spare time, Steven likes to cook, travel, visit museums, and hike.

Abigail Choudhury
Development and Education Associate*
|
Abigail joined FAIC in 2010 to serve as the Development and Education Associate. Abigail manages donor relations and the coordination of grants, scholarships and workshops for the Foundation. Prior to joining FAIC in 2010 Abigail worked and volunteered with a number of arts organizations across the country including the Phillips Collection, the Augustus Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site and the Headlands Center for the Arts among others. Abigail studied Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland where she graduated with departmental honors. In addition to attending cultural events around the city, Abigail enjoys farmers markets, short stories and loose leaf Darjeeling tea.

Morgan Gilpatrick
Communications Director
|
Morgan joined AIC in July 2010. As Communications Director she produces AIC’s print and online publications including AIC News, the Journal of the American Institute of Conservation, and the annual Directory. She also manages parts of AIC’s website, blog, and wiki. Morgan holds a BFA in painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She became interested in historic preservation while working for as a graphic designer for a Philadelphia house museum. In the late 1990s she left Pennsylvania to become Art Director for Cathedral Stone Products in Hanover, Maryland. For the past ten years she has worked in higher education, as graphic design supervisor for The George Washington University, and most recently as the manger of Creative Services for Prince George’s Community College. Morgan is currently pursuing an MFA in Integrated Design at the University of Baltimore.

Eric Pourchot
Director of Institutional Advancement*
|
Eric Pourchot joined FAIC in 2001 to initiate FAIC’s professional development program, which offers workshops throughout the United States, a series of web-based courses, and tutorials on conservation science, as well as an array of scholarships and grants. His duties also include grant writing and other development work. He was Marketing Director for the Emelin Theatre in New York and for Shakespeare & Co. in Massachusetts. Later, he served as Director of Theatre at Long Island University and managed distance learning programs for Old Dominion University. He holds a Ph.D., MFA, and BA in theatre and a Master of Business Administration. He has published articles on Romanian theatre, including entries for the Oxford Encyclopedia of Theatre and Performance.

Ruth Seyler
Membership & Meetings Director
|
Ruth Seyler is the Membership and Meetings Director. After working from several other DC based association she started at AIC in 2005. She manages all membership and annual meeting components for AIC. In addition she is a point-person for AIC social media and advocacy efforts. As part of her position, she is able to work with conservators on issues facing the field and to assist them in networking with related professionals. She enjoys the opportunities to interact with our members and to learn about their current projects. She holds an undergraduate degree from Smith College and a Master’s Degree from American University.
As the daughter of a native Washingtonian, she enjoys living and working in DC and is involved in effort to preserve Washington’s historic buildings.

Eryl P. Wentworth
Executive Director*
|
Eryl Wentworth has served as the Executive Director of AIC and FAIC since 2004, following a museum career spanning over 20 years. Her most recent museum position, held for six years, was Director of The Octagon, Museum of the American Architectural Foundation, a museum of architecture and design and an 1801 National Historic Landmark. Prior to moving to Washington, DC, Eryl spent ten years as Assistant Director and Director of Exhibitions & Special Projects at The Valentine, an urban history museum in Richmond, VA. While there, Eryl supervised the restoration and management of the Wickham-Valentine House, an 1812 National Historic Landmark, and served as principle coordinator for Valentine Riverside, a project to renovate four buildings and install indoor and outdoor exhibitions on an 8-acre site at the Tredegar Iron Works, a National Historic Landmark. With an M.A. in anthropology and museum training and a background in conservation, Eryl has supported the care of collections throughout her career by working with conservators to plan and implement major re-housing, storage, treatment, and exhibition projects and by securing federal and private foundation grants for preservation and conservation projects. Eryl has served as a panelist for NEH challenge grants and preservation and access grants, along with IMLS conservation project support grants, and has served on the boards of both local and national nonprofit organizations.

Ryan Winfield
Membership Coordinator
|
After graduating from Mary Washington College in 2004 with a BA in art history and historic preservation, Ryan moved to DC, where he got his first job working for a small association managment firm. After that he worked at a national arts advocacy organization before coming to AIC in the summer of 2007 as its Membership Assistant. Since then, he has moved on to become Membership Coordinator.
Ryan likes living in DC where he enjoys learning about its history, its local politics, and its public transportation system. In his spare time, he likes to cook, travel, and finish the many DIY projects he has going on in his apartment.
